Jesus Was and Still is Controversial

Jesus Was and Still is Controversial

Had Christ not been such a polarizing and controversial figure, he would not have been crucified. Controversy was always around wherever Christ was once he went public with his ministry.  What’s interesting is that it was not the general public who found Christ controversial, but the religious leaders of the day.  It was these same religious leaders whom Jesus had the most amount of critical remarks towards while he demonstrated compassion for people outside of the religious order of the day.  Not one of his disciples came from this order, or any leadership position among the religious, not one.

And yet today, to follow Christ will create controversy:

Matthew 5:11
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.”

Christ is just as polarizing today as he was before he was crucified.  To be a Christ follower, means that controversy will follow you.  Whether it be in your family, your workplace, or just your circle of “friends”.

Controversial Christian is a blog that seeks not to overcome the controversy but to endure through it.  See the ‘About’ page for more context here.  My hope is that this grows into a multi-author blog that offers more than just on occasional blog post on relevant apprenticeship of Jesus, but becomes a magazine-esque multi-media offering with blogs, podcasts, and video content.  An ambitious project for sure, but one I feel is a worthy undertaking.
